5 Unconventional Things to do at your Wedding – From a Wedding Photographer

Congratulations you just got married and you want to make your wedding different, better and more special then any wedding you have been to before! Let me share some things I have seen that were unconventional for weddings that I absolutely loved!

  1. Have guest send you their photos from your day!

You are busy on your big day and you have hired a professional to take all those photos for you which are going to be amazing! But your photographer is most likely going to be with you the whole day what about the laughs and smiles your friends are giving at the cocktail hour?

At your reception but the Bride and Grooms photo number on the table! Say something cute with it like we want to see our day from your perspective, ask for at least the table to take a group selfie. That why when you get home or wake up the next morning your phone is flooded with pictures of people enjoying your big day! typically they will send you a sweet text with it!

2. Do a first look with your groomsmen!

I am going to do this at my wedding and I am so excited! I have been with my significant other for 10 years so his best friends are also my best friends! What a special moment to make the men feel like they are apart of your big day as well!

3. Make a toast yourself!

During the reception the maid of honor, best man and father of the groom and bride normally speak! But I think it is awesome when couples take a moment to thank everyone for coming! This small moment will make everyone happy to know they are appreciated.

4. Have disposable cameras at the tables!

This is another fun way to incorporate more photos of your big day. Because after your day is over photos are the physical memories you have left. Have your guest take some pictures during the RECEPTION. (You do not want them trying to play photographer during your ceremony!)

5. Have a dessert food truck for the afterparty!

After dinner is served and people have had the typical wedding cake they are normally full however if they are dancers and drinking they will get hungry again! Have your favorite dessert food truck come out and serve lets say after 9 pm to keep the party going!
