This session is so close to my heart—because it’s for my best friend, Harlee. We met in college and have been through so many seasons of life together. Now, she’s officially Dr. Harlee, a general surgeon, and I’m still in awe of everything she’s accomplished.
We took her graduation photos in Nashville at the beautiful Centennial Park, and it was the perfect backdrop to celebrate this incredible milestone. From the architecture to the greenery to the joy that radiated from her in every photo—it all came together so naturally.
Different Paths, Same Love and Support
Our careers couldn’t look more different—she spends her days in surgery and hospitals, while I’m out photographing weddings and love stories. But this is exactly why I love photography: it gives me a way to honor people’s stories, no matter what road they’re on.
Getting to be the one behind the camera during this moment of hers—after all the hard work, long nights, and perseverance—meant the world to me. I may not be able to understand medical school life, but I do know how to document strength, joy, and the moment someone becomes exactly who they’re meant to be.
Celebrating Life Beyond Weddings
This shoot was a reminder that photos aren’t just for wedding days. They’re for every kind of milestone—graduations, career goals, fresh starts. Being able to offer that for a friend, and now for a doctor (!!), is something I’ll never take for granted.
