Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding

As an Alabama wedding photographer who documents love all across the Southeast, I was so excited to capture Emily and Sam’s wedding celebration at one of Atlanta’s most prestigious venues. Their Callanwolde Fine Arts Center wedding perfectly balanced classic sophistication with intentional personal touches that made the day uniquely one of a kind.

A Tuscaloosa Love Story

Emily and Sam’s journey began five years ago during their senior year at the University of Alabama. Their shared experience at the University of Alabama built the foundation for their relationship that would later then flourish in Atlanta. Having started this new chapter in Atlanta, Georgia it was fitting to eventually have the perfectly planned proposal at the iconic Swan Coach House.

Sam chose the Boxwood Gardens at the Swan Coach House – the site of their first date – for his proposal. The location couldn’t have been more meaningful, as it was the next chapter in their story together. Sam surprised Emily with a stunning ring and a life-changing question. Following the proposal, their engagement celebration continued at one of their favorite breweries, where family and friends were waiting to share in their joy.

Why Have A Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding?

The moment you step onto the grounds of this historic Atlanta wedding venue, you understand why Emily and Sam fell in love with it. The Gothic-Tudor-style mansion, built in 1920, offers a romantic backdrop that modern Georgia wedding venues simply can’t replicate. The main ballroom, with its intricate architectural details and grand windows, creates a timeless atmosphere that in the end requires minimal decoration. Choosing a venue that does “all the talking” not only is cost-effective but can alleviate a lot of stress throughout the planning process!

Benefits Of A Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding

For couples considering this gem among Atlanta wedding venues, Callanwolde offers several unique advantages:

  • 12.5 acres of meticulously maintained gardens for outdoor ceremonies and wedding portraits
  • Architectural details that provide endless photo opportunities
  • Versatile spaces that can accommodate both intimate and large gatherings
  • A convenient location just minutes from downtown Atlanta

Emily and Sam’s Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Wedding

When asked about their wedding décor inspiration, Emily shared, “We wanted it to feel like us. We tend to be pretty classic with a little bit of fun.” This philosophy perfectly guided their design choices throughout the venue’s spaces. Emily and Sam embraced the venue’s inherent vintage charm while incorporating playful elements that reflected their personalities.

One of the most delightful aspects of this Atlanta wedding was how Emily and Sam balanced timeless elements with unique personal traditions. The standout feature was their Pittsburgh Cookie Table, a charming tradition from Emily’s hometown. This custom, where family and friends bake cookies during the engagement period, added a wonderfully personal touch to the special day.

Their menu choices reflected this same balance – classic wedding fare elevated with personal favorites that told their story. As an experienced wedding photographer, I’ve noticed that the most memorable celebrations are those that weave together tradition and personality, just as Emily and Sam did.

As an Alabama wedding photographer who documents stories throughout Georgia, I can confidently say that Emily and Sam’s wedding exemplified everything that makes Callanwolde Fine Arts Center weddings so special. Their thoughtful blend of vintage elegance and personal touches created a day that no one will ever forget.
